Here at Brightside, we think apprenticeships are a great next step for students because they give them the opportunity to learn about the world of work on the job.
But we’re seeing that not all students get the support they need when the time comes to apply. In fact, two-thirds of young people say they’d be more likely to apply for an apprenticeship if a UCAS-style format was available.
In 2021, UCAS found that one in three students don’t get any information about apprenticeships from their school or college, and over 60% of students on our programme did not know people to call on for employment and education advice.
We believe that needs to change.
Which is why we piloted our Apprenticeships Explore programme with Linking London, City and Islington College and Westminster Kingsway College.
