How we work with charities
We work collaboratively with our charity partners to ensure our mentoring programmes meet the unique challenges of every young person. Our bespoke offer allows our partners to work more efficiently at scale, reach young people regardless of geographical location, and gives flexible options to those who need them.
What we offer to charities:
Suitable for: charities looking to have a positive, lasting impact on those they work with by developing new online programmes or adding mentoring to their existing projects
Purpose: to ensure the young people they work with can make confident and informed decisions about their future, regardless of the barriers they face
Outcomes: young people build long-term mentoring relationships with someone further along their journey to help them with specific challenges and give them ideas for the future

If you’re looking for something more specific, we’re happy to work with you to develop a bespoke mentoring experience that caters to your outcomes. Past mentoring programmes with charities have included:
- Exploring higher education
- Exploring industry pathways
Reaching Wider
This project supported 250 mentees from February 2023 to June 2023 to research and explore their higher education options including university and degree apprenticeships.
Reaching Wider’s mission is to widen access for groups who would not have otherwise considered entering into Higher Education from the most deprived areas in Wales. Their partnership with Brightside allows them to connect these priority groups, at scale, with inspiring mentors who can help them to make confident and informed decisions about their future.
The programme aimed to support Welsh students to:
- build confidence and motivation to succeed at school and university
- increase understanding of what to expect from university and alternative routes
- develop tools to support young people to navigate applications in the post-18 landscape
increase in understanding about starting a degree or apprenticeship
increase in understanding about alternate vocational course
increase in understanding about starting work immediately
